Bo Hu

Researcher and Consultant Wind Energy Technology, ECN TNO

Biography

Bo Hu holds a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology. Since Bo joined ECN in 2016, he has focused on the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of offshore wind farms. Bo is involved in developing several O&M decision-supporting software tools, including a software that optimizes the action sequence/ transfer plan for the daily wind farm operations (ECN Despatch), and a software which models wind
farm O&M logistics and evaluates the long term O&M performance (ECN O&M Calculator). Bo has been working on developing innovative solutions to tackle offshore wind O&M challenges, such as maintenance robotics and systems to enhance the workability in the offshore environment. Due to the fact that Bo has been actively monitoring the development of offshore access systems (e.g. motion compensated gangways/cranes), he is one of the leading authors of the annual ECN Access Report.
